Houston Departure issued an urgent instruction to level off at 15,000 feet, advising the crew of traffic at their 12 o'clock, two miles and closing. The controller noted the target was not communicating and had been "popping up all day."

Both pilots visually acquired a large oblong spheroid at their altitude. The object had no wings, windows, or lights. It appeared metallic, resembling a molten ball of mercury with an almost translucent, morphing surface that seemed to pulse and vibrate. The First Officer estimated it was roughly the size of a 737 or blimp, approximately 40 feet in length.

The object initially appeared stationary. As the First Officer maneuvered right to avoid a potential collision, the UAP accelerated instantaneously along their left wing line, departing at extreme speed. No TCAS alert was triggered. The entire encounter lasted less than 10 seconds, with the object passing within an estimated 500 feet or closer.

Both pilots were left unsettled by the experience and compartmentalized it afterward.
